Your Own Place is an award-winning social enterprise delivering Money, Housing, Tenancy and Employability support to prevent homelessness

Engagement & Participation

We create safe, inclusive spaces where people can share their experiences, ideas and aspirations, helping organisations listen better, learn more and make meaningful change.

Through engaging, co-produced workshops, we ensure every voice is heard by recognising that people and communities are experts in their own lives and know what works best.

Together, we turn lived experience into practical actions that improve services, strengthen communities and shape sustainable change.

What is the offer?

We offer inclusive group workshops designed to anonymously collect ideas or experiences to co-create actions for improvement

Our workshops can be delivered in a variety of formats:
– One-day group workshops
– Half-day group workshops
– Bitesized two-hour workshops
– 1-2-1 workshops

All offers can be delivered online or in-person. This ensures spaces are inclusive, accessible, and safe, so everyone feels comfortable participating.

Your Own Place has demonstrated a deep understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics associated with tenant meetings. Their attention to detail and ability to manage logistics has resulted in seamless and productive meetings with the outcomes influencing key strategic decisions.

Freebridge Community Housing

Why Engagement & Participation?

Your Own Place believes passionately in participation, that every voice is valued, and works to ensure communities feel heard and supported. Our facilitation style is designed to create space for every voice to be heard, ensuring that everyone can contribute their ideas and influence decision-making, not just those who are most confident in expressing their views.

Communities are a wealth of assets and are best placed to identify the appropriate solutions. We know that meaningful strategic and organisational change is achieved through co-produced solutions developed alongside the people who receive services.

Our workshops can demonstrate an organisation’s commitment to listening, learning and continuous improvement.

Who is it for?

  • Landlords and their tenants
  • Service providers and people who access them
  • Local community groups
  • Anyone who wants to collect and champion the voices of the people they work with

Where are workshops held?

We can work with partners to identify the most appropriate locations. Our workshops can be delivered in supported accommodation, in community venues, online or in any space where people feel comfortable attending.

How do they work?

100%

of participants leave our workshops feeling valued for their input

100%

of participants leave our workshops feeling heard and listened to

100%

of participants say they would recommend our sessions

Our workshop delivery style is designed to create safe, non-judgemental spaces so that people feel comfortable to share their thoughts and experiences. Our inclusive and interactive facilitation method ensures all voices in the room are heard by inviting participants to collect their thoughts visually, anonymously and with greater honesty, on the wall.

Your Own Place has been absolutely fantastic in helping to empower our supported living residents in Norfolk to use their voice to shape our services and explore their future aspirations. Over the last year, they’ve provided support and expertise in their unique way to build trust and rapport with our residents.

The interactive workshops have been well received and the feedback has allowed us to focus our service on what matters most to our residents.  Your Own Place has helped our residents on their journey to independent living, and we look forward to exploring other ways we can work together in the future.
