If you haven’t been over to The Independence Hub yet then you may not have met Stacy.
A long-standing friend of YOP, Stacy’s life experience, honesty and resilience in the face of some tough stuff made her the obvious choice to run our Facebook page – full of her own money tips and life hacks.
So here’s some more about Stacy in a Q and A:
Stacy, tell us a bit about you?
I am a mum… a Mother Looking for Freebies! I absolutely LOVE to find a bargain and am excited to be collaborating with YOP to share my tips with you all! I don’t like to take life too seriously and believe learning should be fun.
What projects are you currently focussing on?
Litter picking… which is hugely addictive by the way! I’d never done one 6 months ago, now I organise the community litter pick in Taverham/Drayton. I LOVE it! We also have a Uniform Bank which helps families in need 🙂
What do you love about what you do?
I enjoy seeing the community come together. Everyone is having fun and making new friends whilst tackling social issues and achieving as a team…it doesn’t feel like hard work when you enjoy it.
Stacy, have you ever won any awards, and if so, what?
Yes😀🏆 … and still in shock! Last year I won Environmental Champion of the Year for the community litter picking initiative🥳 Before that I won a Young Entrepreneur Award and a National Prince’s Trust Award.
What’s been your biggest life lesson?
Hmm🤔 There have definitely been times when I have made the same mistake multiple times… just to fully make sure😂 I have however, recently learnt to trust my intuition and not to doubt myself! Intuition is a #superpower! 💪🏻
Stacy, where do you get your inspiration?
My #inspiration often comes in the face of adversity. Experiencing hard times brings out a passion within me that makes me more determined🤨 I would say I’m a lover who fights for what she believes in! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
How do you know Rebecca and Your Own Place?
I have worked with the lovely Rebecca before on an employability project with YOP! I had a great time with the young people & really enjoyed working with Rebecca😃 She is an amazing lady and a lot of fun!!!
Why do you want to work in partnership with YOP?
I know all too well how hard it can be to maintain a tenancy and ensure good finances. I love that YOP promotes #independence and teaches #resilience through providing skills such as #budgeting and #money management
What do you think you have to offer?
Over the years I have found tons of ways to save money and time… I mean, after all, they do say #timeismoney
⌚ I really enjoy sharing my ideas / tips, knowing that they can help others to have more and live more! #LifeHacks
What are you looking forward to in 2020?
More sleep…💤 …No really… it was one of my New Year’s Resolutions 😂🛏️ There are so many health benefits to getting a good nights sleep… which means those #timesaving tips are more important than ever #lesstimemoresleep
Anything else we should know about you?
I am a World Champion 🏆 …a World Pier Crabbing Champion🦀🤣 I won the adult category a few years back in the beautiful, exotic Cromer 🌴It is quite possibly the only World title I am likely to get…so I’m owning it 💁🌍
