Our starting point for everything we do is that everyone deserves the best possible service, that no one becomes homeless through choice and that we believe and trust and take you at face value.
Asset-based
At Your Own Place, we believe that people are the experts in their own lives, and know their own strengths. Our aim to empower them to make the choices the are best suited for them.
Restorative
Too many services try to fix people, ignore and neglect people or disempower people because they think they are superior. Believing in people’s capabilities means being alongside and with people in our support – to provide a place for growth and development, rather than dependence and infantilising.
Empathic
Empathy at Your Own Place means acknowledging and respecting how people feel rather than how we think they should feel in a set of circumstances. This is more respectful than sympathy and can mean providing space that allows people just to feel what they feel.
Innovative, Engaging & Fun
Believing in people as our equals means that if they are giving up their time to work with us, then they deserve no less than this. Equally, there is strong evidence that people learn more when they are having fun.
High Quality
Again, because people who are trusting us with their time deserve no less. As a social enterprise, we are a business that must compete as the best in order to be sustainable.
