Tenancy Support

Tenancy Support

What is it?

Moving into your tenancy, at any stage in life, is a big step with a lot to take in.  We support people who are moving to independence – whether it’s budgeting, housing, benefit claims, understanding the tenancy, getting help, understanding debt and making savings or just feeling more confident about the move – we want happy people making a really great start in their new home.

What do we do?

We provide an agreed number of practical 1-2-1 sessions to help with the initial phase of getting a home sorted. This can be completed in the person’s home – as impartial experts, we’re often the trusted voice.

People can often be impatient to make their home lovely, but lack some of the resources, skills and knowledge about how to achieve this. We don’t have a magic wand, but can help the tenancy get onto a surer footing in the first few weeks. We can help with setting up any new benefits claim, sourcing furniture, finding grants to support with costs, help with painting and small practical tasks as well as help them get to know their neighbourhood.

Does it work?

Research tells us that many new tenants don’t feel emotionally invested in their home because it doesn’t feel like a home. An absence of furniture and white goods can quickly result in an abandonment and future homelessness. We want to prevent this awful situation happening to the tenant as well as save the public purse and create sustainable communities.Get in touch with Rebecca to find out more.
