We work tirelessly with local and national partners to bring about the most innovative as well as cost-effective solutions to homelessness.
Your Own Place was started by Rebecca White in 2013. From a secondary teaching background, Rebecca is passionate about young people and those that face most barriers – not of their own making. She set about finding innovative and creative solutions to preventing homelessness that maximise the impact they have on wider society.
Borne of this belief, Your Own Place was incorporated as a Community Interest Company in October 2013.
Nearly seven years on and Your Own Place has worked with over 700 people, trained over 200 volunteers and is not short of partners, ideas and passion. It is our aim to be the stand out enterprise tackling homelessness with evidence-based and high quality services that people from all backgrounds want to be a part of.
A word from the founder
‘I have worked with young people and people from all backgrounds my entire adult life and it doesn’t matter where or who they are, they always surprise me. This has led me to working utterly without prejudice or preconception about what somebody is capable of. This is one of the most important elements of Your Own Place and why I founded it. It is not just enshrined on paper, but in everything we do. I want to champion everything people are capable of and provide a mechanism for a voice so they don’t need other people to speak for them. So many people are short-changed and deserve more from every organisation they come into contact with. The reward of seeing a person achieving their goals and not need us anymore is all that any professional can ask for’.
