Relationships First
Everything Your Own Place does starts with values, relationships, quality, impact and trust. We know that people who have previously lived in supported accommodation, are care experienced, have previously experienced homelessness or have experience of custody may need more 1-2-1 support to sustain their tenancy and keep their home once other support has ended.
That’s why we offer 1-2-1 bespoke tenancy sustainment sessions in people’s homes or other setting just before and after they have moved on.
This is also why our interventions come from a place of equity, empathy, empowerment and are always informed by lived experience. Your Own Place listens and delivers the flexible services that people themselves say they need.
Our restorative, participative, coaching and asset-based delivery ultimately helps people improve their money, cost of living and housing knowledge, skills, resilience, networks and confidence.
Why Move-on?
Many people have not had the chance to see, learn or practise these skills elsewhere in the family, at school or in their accommodation setting before they left. All too often tenancies avoidably break down. Your Own Place is filling this gap by working with those at a crucial time and who are most at risk to help them sustain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.
What we do
We design a bespoke programme of 1-2-1 sessions. These are delivered in the lead up to moving on and for up to six months after move-on. Sessions last an hour and are delivered in people’s homes or a local cafe if they prefer and include:
- All the planning of content and Pinpoint facilitation © methodology, with the most up to date cost of living, welfare benefit and housing information
- Design of bespoke resources
- An evaluation methodology that provides the commissioner with a quality final outcomes report
- Any necessary venue arrangements
- Final Your Own Place certificates
- A bespoke, secure and asset-based referral pathway that enables us to adapt to a variety of neuro-divergent needs
- The option to meet with the trainee before the intervention starts to build the relationship and listen to what they want – to co-design the offer
If you’re providing supported accommodation, a local authority, a charity or in criminal justice and are tired of seeing people come back through the revolving door, we’d love to work with you and those you support to help them sustain their tenancies. Through close partnership planning and engagement with your service, together we ensure that trainees leave not just with the new money, tenancy & housing skills, confidence, knowledge and a network, but the legacy of being able to tackle their future problems too – these are not simply life skills, but skills for life.

How do we know it does everything we say it does?
With more than 24 different modules available we can tackle a comprehensive range of money, cost of living and housing content, because everyone’s situation and needs are different when they move on. There is is also the option of accreditation.
We work with people at most risk of homelessness – trainees may be care experienced, previously homeless or vulnerably housed or recently out of custody.
Your Own Place has turned only one trainee away since 2013 – because we are experts at engagement, inclusive in everything we do and build trusting relationships with people others don’t, won’t or can’t work with
We have 84% retention on our sessions, showing the strength of our approaches and relationships
