Inspiring Change
Your Own Place exists to prevent homelessness and reduce poverty by building financial resilience, confidence and community connection.
Thanks to funding from the National Lottery, Your Own Place has been funded to facilitate Money, Housing, Tenancy & Employability 1-2-1 sessions and group workshops with participants in Norwich, Thetford and Great Yarmouth communities.
The project, ‘Inspiring Change’, will strengthen community resilience across Norwich, Thetford and Great Yarmouth areas, working with people and families most affected by poverty and disadvantage to gain control of their financial situations, build confidence and sustain their homes.
What is “Inspiring Change”?
Are you supporting someone who wants the space to explore and build their confidence with managing money, bills, housing, or building support networks?
At Your Own Place, we know that people already have strengths, skills and experiences to draw on, but may benefit from the space and support to build on them.
We work alongside people, not to tell them what to do, but to help them feel more confident, connected and in control of their situation. Through the ‘Inspiring Change’ project, we are supporting people to build financial resilience, strengthen their confidence, and sustain their homes. This might mean exploring everyday money, finding ways to increase income, or connecting with the right support at the right time.

FAQs
The 1-2-1 sessions can be held in community spaces such as cafes, community centres, the library, at the Your Own Place office in Norwich, at council venues or at supported accommodation. If none of these spaces is accessible, then the team can explore working with the individual at their home or virtually.
The group workshops are designed for small groups of 2-8 participants. These are very informal, relaxed and promote peer-to-peer learning.
We will publish our drop-in locations on Instagram and Facebook, or you can contact one of the Project Leads directly to find out their next drop-in slots.
